APPARATUS FOR CURLING EDGE OF HOLLOW PART Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: plastic metal working, possibly forming edges of metallic shells. SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes rotation unit with deforming rollers; centering mandrel and face chuck. It is provided with ring halves forming (after drawing them together) ring around centering mandrel and worked part. Ring halves have annular turning on their working surface; said turning after engaging with profiling grooves of deforming rollers forms 3/4 of circle in cross section. Rotation axes of deforming rollers are normal relative to axis of rotation unit; spacing from axis of rotation unit until nearest edge of profiling grooves is equal to radius value of upper portion of worked part. Face chuck with worked part placed on it may perform controlled vertical motion. EFFECT: enhanced quality of curling edges of hollow cylindrical thin-wall parts, lowered labor consumption for making such parts. 1 dwg
