Abstract RU 2215064 C2

FIELD: production of gaseous halogens from aqueous solution of alkali metal halide. SUBSTANCE: electrolyzer includes several plate type cells arranged in row one after another and having mutual electric contact. Each cell has housing formed by two halves made of electrically conductive material and having contact stripes on outer side at least of one rear wall. In said housing there are devices for supplying electric current of electrolysis and electrolyte and devices for taking-off electric current of electrolysis and products of electrolysis and two practically flat electrodes (anode and cathode). The last are provided with lengthwise louver type opening for passing through them flow of supplied electrolyte and products of electrolysis and they are mutually separated by means of partition wall and arranged mutually in parallel in such a way that each electrode is electrically connected through metallic rigidity member with respective rear wall of housing. Said louver type openings 8B, 9B of anode 8 and cathode 9 are inclined relative to horizon by angle 7 - 10 degrees. Invention provides possibility for electrolyzer operation at electric current density more than 4 kA/sq. m. EFFECT: enhanced gas separation in boundary layer at low pulsations of flow, increased useful life period of diaphragm. 3 cl, 3 dwg
