FIELD: electrics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrolytic cell to produce gaseous halogen from water solution of halogenated alkali element. Electrolytic cell for gaseous halogen production contains two semi shells made of electroconductive material, anode (4) and cathode (5) with electrolytic membrane (6) arranged between them. At least, one of the said semi shells is ensured with embedded elements to increase liquid level. The said embedded elements form internal chute (7) located horizontally and parallel to electrolytic membrane (6) and spaced from membrane by the first intermediate space (9, 14). The second intermediate space (10, 15) is arranged between the said chute (7) and upper side of the said, at least, one semi-shell. The second intermediate space is inclined outwards and upwards relative to horizontal plane as viewed from electrolytic membrane side (6). Chute (7) has, at least, one opening contacting with the second intermediate space (10, 15), and, at least, one outlet opening.
EFFECT: effective way of gaseous halogen production from water solution of halogenated alkali element.
