FIELD: processes and equipment for producing gaseous halogens from aqueous solution of alkali metal halide. SUBSTANCE: electrolyzer includes contact strips in the form of =-shaped section whose flange adjoins to respective back wall. In zone of said flange contact strips are joined along their whole length with back wall and with respective partition by means of electric current conductive high-strength joint passing through said three members beginning from flange of =-shaped section. Said joint has V-shaped cross section. Method for making cells of electrolyzer comprises steps of joining rigidity members in the form of partitions with respective back wall, contact strip and also with anode and cathode by reduction sintering or welding process. Electrolyzer features uniform electric current distribution and significantly lowered voltage between its terminals. EFFECT: improved design. 11 cl, 9 dwg
