FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: idling stroke ratchet mechanism has driven axle shaft with ratchet and driving gear. Rotary catch fixed on driving gear end is engageable with ratchet and connected through pin with ring, which is provided with braking surface and is axially spring-loaded to mated braking surface. Driven axle shaft has annular bead with mated braking surface on its end. Circumferential slots are formed on mated braking surface. Ring braking surface is made wavy in peripheral direction. Roller members are positioned in circumferential slots for engagement with wavy braking surface. Ratchet mechanism may be used in devices where automatic reversal of driven link is required depending on direction and rotational speed of driving link, as well as in mechanisms for connecting shafts in case driven shaft is to take up torque of certain sign. EFFECT: increased operating time of reversal mechanism and increased sensitivity of mechanism to variations in rotational speed of driving link. 3 dwg
