FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: cartridge-type gasket has impeller positioned on outer end of cartridge with gap between gasket cartridge end and impeller end. Gasket insertion causes simultaneous pressing of rubber member on its outer diameter and of cartridge on its inner diameter. For eliminating distortion of friction couple rings, during operation of pump friction couple rings are mounted resiliently and, also, retaining ring is used. Resilient mounting of friction couple rings is provided by predetermined interference thereof for preventing rings from cranking during operation. During operation of pump, liquid flows to zone in the vicinity of "ring-on-ring" friction couple, one of rings being immovable and manufactured of graphite and other ring being rotatable, thrust ring manufactured of cast iron. To provide for intensified heat withdrawal from friction couple, thrust ring is equipped with channel. Location of impeller at outer end of cartridge increases speed of liquid mixing in zone adjoining to gasket. Employment of such gasket imparts versatility to friction couple rings and allows "sliding ring-impeller end" friction couple to be replaced with "ring-on-ring" couple, which, in its turn, allows temperature mode to be reduced. EFFECT: increased efficiency, reduced production cost by eliminating costly and complicated operation of processing impeller end process, and prolonged service life of water pump. 4 cl, 1 dwg
