FIELD: communications engineering; miscellaneous signal transfer systems. SUBSTANCE: method includes writing and storage of source digital signal; detection of single, zero, and relatively alternating single and zero characters; generation of positive polarity code by means of clock signals at points of transfer of one character burst to other, code length being a multiple of number of one-character half-length whose origin coincides with that of this or that clock sequence; analysis of time space length between them; generation of code pulses in these spaces, pulse length being different and not coinciding with that of pulses coding transfers between various character bursts and their number being a multiple of the number of one-character half-lengths; in case of detection of transfer pulses having minimal length among all possible transfer pulses length of time spaces between end of such pulses and origin of next ones are checked and if this space is not over three half-bits, unipolar positive code pulse is generated by merging these two successive pulses into single pulse whose origin is that of first of these two merged pulses and its end is that of second one of them; if time space being checked is found to equal four half-bits or more, new code pulse is generated by elongating first pulse of minimal length among all code pulses by two half-bits; coded digital signal obtained in this way is conveyed to communication line either directly or with alternating polarity of code pulses. EFFECT: enhanced quality of both frequency and time characteristics of output coded signal. 3 cl, 33 dwg
