FIELD: navigation. SUBSTANCE: fiber-optical gyroscope is positioned so that its sensitivity vector is in horizon plane. Then fiber-optical gyroscope is turned about axis perpendicular to horizon plane so that its sensitivity vector remains in horizon plane. Fiber-optical gyroscope is turned by rotation at constant angular velocity. Output signal of fiber-optical gyroscope is measured by its phase detection at rotational frequency with determination of output signal phase of fiber-optical gyroscope corresponding to azimuth. Gyrocompass has fiber-optical gyroscope, unit of analog-to-digital conversion connected to processing and indication unit. Gyrocompass includes device which rotates fiber-optical gyroscope, fiber-optical gyroscope rotation pickup, unit which forms frequency and phase signal of fiber-optical gyroscope rotation, and unit of phase processing of fiber-optical gyroscope signal.
