FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparing linalool that is an intermediate organic compound used in pharmaceutical and perfume industry. Method for preparing linalool involves selective hydrogenation of dehydrolinalool on palladium-containing polymeric catalyst saturated preliminary with hydrogen in hydrogen flow at temperature 60-90 C. Palladium-containing polymeric catalyst represents palladium- containing microfibers of diameter 100-150 nm with immobilized palladium particles of size 20-25 nm prepared by addition of PdCl2 in dimethylformamide to solution of copolymer of acrylonitrile and acrylic acids prepared in dimethylformamide at temperature 68-70 C, by reduction of added PdCl2 N2H4•H2O and the following electric molding. Selective hydrogenation is carried out in the concentration of dehydrolinalool 0.3-0.5 mole/l and in the concentration of catalyst 0.02-0.1 g/l.
