FIELD: establishment of basic mechanical properties of wires. SUBSTANCE: technique determining elastic and strength properties of wire consists in deformation of wire to maximal stress with recording of its load and deformation, in construction of load curve relating impact force and depth of penetration of indenters. Ultimate strength of wire is found by value of recorded load and deformation and limits of proportionality, elasticity and yield of material of wire are established by load curve relating impact force and depth of penetration of indenters. Wire is deformed by dynamic load increasing discretely and applied to different points over length of sample between two wedge-shaped indenters with sharpening angle of 120 degrees. EFFECT: increased accuracy of test and reliability of obtained results, reduced cost of test.
