APPARATUS FOR MOWING OF STRIP BETWEEN TREE TRUNKS Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: agricultural engineering. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has frame 1 pivotally connected to bar 2, which is moved to working position by hydraulic cylinder 3. Bar is adapted for carrying of spring-loaded probe 8, rotor driven by hydraulic engine, rotary disk-shaped cutting unit equipped with tooted gear transmission and crank axle 4. Toothed gear transmission 5 is rigidly mounted on crank axle and knife 6 of cutting tool is pivotally mounted on crank axle. Probe 8 is fixed on toothed gear transmission 7. In the process of mowing strip between tree trunks by knife 6 during rotation of rotor, probe 8 is positioned perpendicular to advancement direction. Crank axle 4 is extending to the right. On coming into contact with tree trunk, probe 8 overcomes spring draft to be deflected and move crank axle 4 to extreme left-hand position. In this position, knife 6 of cutting unit is out of contact with tree trunk. Mowing of strip around tree trunk is started the moment crank axle changes its position. EFFECT: reduced damage to tree trunk during mowing process, reduced weight of apparatus and enhanced reliability in operation. 2 dwg
