FIELD: electrical communications; reducing redundancy of data transmitted over digital communication channels. SUBSTANCE: proposed method that can be used for transmitting voice messages over digital communication channels at speed up to 2.4 kbit/s and may be classed among methods for coding voice signal parameters includes digitizing of continuous voice signal, quantizing of digital readings, generation of vector of quantized voice signal readings, digital cosine transformation of the latter, separation of spectral coefficients, construction of matrix of chosen spectral coefficients, construction of plurality of one and zero elements in the form of rectangular matrices, transfer of plurality of one and zero elements over communication channel, its reception from communication channel, construction of matrix of chosen spectral coefficients, recovery of vector of voice signal spectral coefficients, reciprocal cosine transformation, generation of vector of recovered voice signal readings, and conversion of this vector into continuous voice signal; spectral coefficients being encoded are only those of ordered structure possessing maximal energy. EFFECT: reduced requirement to throughput capacity for telephone communications over low-speed digital communication channels. 1 cl, 8 dwg
