FIELD: data media. SUBSTANCE: method designed for simulating and analyzing functions of optical systems for reading data out of digital optical disks includes following procedures: ranges of source parameters of optical disks and data items of layer being recorded are entered in data base; source parameters of optical disk and data items of groups having grooves, pits, and labels on external surface of layer being recorded and labels on groove bottoms are retrieved from data base; laser radiation signal reflected from disk carrying data items of layer being recorded and layer being recorded diffracted on spatial structure of data items are rapidly and precisely found from developed analytical formulas; signal read out of optical disk is found by calculating intensity of complete reflected signal and its adding within input pupil of reading head.
