FIELD: electrical engineering, design of optical cable intended for construction of fiber-optical communication lines. SUBSTANCE: proposed optical communication cable has optical fibers contained in dielectric tubes, central dielectric reinforcing element, hydrophobic filling agent, dielectric tape, intermediate dielectric jacket, armor cover and external dielectric sheath. Armor cover is made of dielectric tapes, each tape carries reinforcing elements of different diameter. Armor cover in the form of dielectric tapes with reinforcing elements of different diameters compactly packed in them makes it possible to design structure of optical cable with lesser usage of metal and weight with preservation of mechanical characteristics of optical cables. EFFECT: reduced usage of metal and diminished weight with preservation of mechanical characteristics of optical cable. 1 dwg
