FIELD: electrical engineering; fiber-optic communication lines laid in ditchers, tunnels, and ground.
SUBSTANCE: in order to produce optical cable designed so that its metal conductors can be brought in contact with surrounding atmosphere without corrosion damage to them, armor wire covering is coated with external polymeric material and metal member; the latter whose thickness exceeds that of external polymeric coating is wound at pitch exceeding lay of wire armor covering in direction reverse to lay of armor covering wires and is in electric contact with wire armor covering.
EFFECT: enhanced corrosion resistance of cable.
