FIELD: telecommunication systems and methods for data transmission; error correction coding to ensure reliable data transfer. SUBSTANCE: system has transmitter incorporating data burst which is divided into certain number of data segments. These data segments are encoded both for error detection and error correction. Parity check bits for error correction and also for error detection are separately combined in single block or in several blocks. Then data segments and block or blocks incorporating combined parity check bits are transmitted to receiver. If receiver finds that data segments received are free from errors, parity check bits are generated for these data segments and their impact on combined parity check bits is eliminated. Then remaining error correction parity bits carrying now only information about data segments that really have errors are used for correcting erroneous data segments.
