GAS SCRUBBING UNIT Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: gas scrubbing units. SUBSTANCE: proposed gas scrubbing unit has U-shaped housing with helical partition, hydraulic seal, gas inlet and outlet branch pipes, sprinklers located inside housing, vertical tubular collector for communication of pump supplying water from sludge settler and sprinklers. Novelty of invention consists in form of water drains having shape of boxes located in housing across flow of gas moving inside it; overflow lips of water drains are directed towards motion of gas and wall opposite to overflow lip is engageable at obtuse angle with its bottom having several equidistant holes whose diameter does not exceed depth of water above overflow lip. Besides that, pressure pipe line supplying water from sludge settler is connected coaxially to bottom of vertical tubular collector; diameter of water pipe line is lesser than diameter of collector by 4-6 times; pump delivers clarified water from sludge settler; pressure water pipe line connected to pump and equipped with drain cock, as well as hydraulic seal mounted on drain of water-and-sludge mixture from housing are located in warm room above sludge settler where ambient temperature does not drop below 0 C. Secured in lower portion of housing at its outlet is water receiver to which pipe line discharging water to hydraulic seal is connected; outlet branch pipe is made in form of elbow with outlet hole directed upward; it is located inside smoke stack of larger diameter.
