FIELD: electrical engineering; controlling synchronous machines provided with electronic switches. SUBSTANCE: method includes detection of rotor position in double-toothed electrical machine by changes in phase currents and voltages; rotor position if determined simultaneously in all phases including weighting coefficients through magnetic permeability of air gap between stator pole teeth and rotor teeth using approximation curves of magnetic permeability as function of angle between stator pole teeth and rotor teeth; weighting coefficients of phases in sections where variation in permeance between rotor teeth is low are equated to zero and for other ones they are chosen in proportion to phase current. Sum of weighting coefficients equals unity. EFFECT: enhanced precision of rotor position detection. 2 cl, 3 dwg
