FIELD: polarization mode compensation. SUBSTANCE: device has polarization mode converter, photodiode, first solver, first, second, and third band filters or low-frequency filters, first, second, and third power meters, and polarization mode regulator. As an alternative, use can be made of one variable or tunable boundary-frequency filter or central-frequency filter. There is also second solver that functions to yield auxiliary data signal. Output signals of first and second solvers are compared to obtain error signal used by polarization mode regulator for controlling polarization mode converter. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of detector suited to detection of high values of differential group delay time. 10 cl, 5 dwg
