FIELD: medicine, abdominal surgery. SUBSTANCE: the present innovation deals with treating rectal cancer. Rectal resection is performed. End-to-end anastomosis is formed by applying Foley catheter. The latter is introduced into proximal stump of large intestine. Catheter is fixed with purse-string suture being below balloon enlarged up to intestinal diameter. Serousmuscular sutures are applied along mesenteric edge at the level of balloon's maximum diameter. Distal stump is sutured along posterior semicircumference by capturing levators' fascia. Catheter's distal end withdrawn outside through anal canal is tightened up. Ligatures are tightened by descending proximal department of large intestine. Then anterior wall of anastomosis is formed. Tube is pulled to achieve the contact of serous membrane of descended intestine with demucosed surface of distal stump. With the help of catheter's rubber plate one should fulfill fixation. The method provides prophylaxis of scarring and anastomotic stenosis at treating rectal cancer. EFFECT: higher efficiency of operation. 2 dwg, 2 ex
