METHOD FOR LICHENOINDICATION OF AIR POLLUTION Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: ecology. SUBSTANCE: the present innovation deals with evaluating atmospheric air quality by the state of epiphytic lichens. The method includes the planning of not less than 10 lichenoindication areas of 25x25 m, detecting external signs of lichens on trees; statistic processing the results of trials; calculating the value of bioindicator's state; comparing it with normative criteria of its ecological habitat state. Moreover, as the value for lichens state one should apply complex value of bioindicator G viability calculated by the following formula: G = ΣWi•ΣSi, where Wi - portion of every lichenogroup in total variety of groups; Si - density of lichenogroup population, %. Moreover, density of lichenopopulation is detected due to calculating the size of area occupied by each lichenogroup in template's measuring frame at internal size of 10x10 cm, with netting on it forming 100 cells of 1x1 cm size. The method enables to increase evaluation significance for ecological condition at certain locality. EFFECT: higher efficiency and accuracy of lichenoindication. 3 dwg, 2 tbl
