PROCESS OF SHUT-OFF OF WATER AND GAS INFLOWS Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

Abstract RU 2219327 C1

FIELD: elimination of water and gas manifestations, increased oil output of pools during drilling and running of oil, gas and injection wells. SUBSTANCE: process of shut-off of water and gas inflows includes injection of gel-forming compounds with different rheological characteristics in batches into pool. At initial stage there are utilized gelforming compounds with non- Newtonian rheological characteristics, its filtration resistance is diminished in each following batch of gel-forming compound thanks to reduction of pseudo-plastic properties and at final stage there are utilized gel-forming compounds with Newtonian rheological characteristics. Usage of gel-forming compounds carrying mud grouting particles in addition is possible. Reduction of filtration resistance is possible due to decrease of pseudo-plastic properties of utilized gel- forming compounds caused by diminished concentration and/or size of mud grouting particles contained in composition of gel-forming compounds. Preliminary injection of mud grouting compounds into pool is not unlikely. Filtration resistance may be diminished owing to decrease of utilized gel-forming compounds because of reduction of their molecular mass and/or degree of hydrolysis of polymer. Filtration resistance can also be diminished thanks to reduction of pseudo-plastic properties of each following mud grouting compound by decreased concentration and/or size of mud grouting particles. EFFECT: raised quality of water and gas shut-off operations under conditions of inhomogeneous permeability of shut-off pool with simultaneous saving of shut-off compounds. 6 cl
