FIELD: cold working of metals, in particular, manufacture of coin or counter type articles of relief structure. SUBSTANCE: method involves milling disk blank and decorating its side surface on milling machine; after milling, decorating disk blank after milling by embossing of grooves on side surface of disk blank or by forming annular open slot on said surface with following embossment of grooves on base of disk blank; decorating side surface of disk blank by providing planetary movement thereof with respect to decorating surfaces or decorating surfaces of die plate of respective milling machine and by providing friction engagement of guiding slot sides of machine transportation rotor with milling device peripheral portions adjoining, respectively, to face and reverse sides of disk blank. Method allows bending up or pressing down of decorated surface to be eliminated. EFFECT: increased precision of dimension parameters of formed decorated part regardless of its shape, convexity or concavity, and increased efficiency in line production of articles. 5 cl, 6 dwg
