FIELD: inorganic compounds technology. SUBSTANCE: process comprises formation of pulp from raw material in the form of alumina-containing aluminum production slag by mixing raw material with water, bringing slag components into reaction with sulfuric acid and water to form aluminum sulfate aqueous solution, and filtration of insoluble components of raw material and reaction products followed by separation of aluminum sulfate aqueous solution. According to invention, when performing mixing with water in the pulp formation step, water-soluble slag components are separated by drainage of water solution and reaction with sulfuric acid is conducted until pH value of aluminum sulfate solution achieved 4-5 at initial sulfuric acid concentration 70-75% and its amount equal to half weight of slag. Thus obtained aluminum sulfate is designed for use as coagulator in water treatment process. EFFECT: enabled obtaining coagulator with qualitatively optimal characteristics, reduced productive cycle time, and increased productivity of process. 4 cl, 1 dwg
