FIELD: mechanical engineering; gear trains. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes mounting each pair of gear members on shaft provided with helical splines; gear members are separated by flexible auxiliary member; then backlash is smoothly regulated by means of adjusting nut in engagement with standard gear wheel to obtain required accuracy of misalignment determined by contact spot for example. Then, built-up gear wheel is disassembled and assembled again at mounting shim or set of shims instead of flexible member. Gear elements are secured axially depending on backlash measured between them. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of engagement; reduced vibration activity of built-up gear wheels. 1 dwg
