FIELD: mechanical engineering; engines; gear train for transmission of torque from crankshaft to camshafts. SUBSTANCE: method comes to successively fitting gear wheels and gears onto corresponding shafts and relative orientation of train members forming splined connection. Relative orientation of members forming spline connection 4 is carried out by engaging driven gear 3 and driving gear 1 by selecting the position of driven gear 3 on driven shaft 5 with no backlash in meshing. This is done by turning driven shaft 5 relative to driven gear 3 through angle of 380 degrees ((Zs×Zt)) where Zs is number of splines on driven shaft and driven gear and Zt is number of teeth of driven gear on condition that if Zs is even number, then Zt is odd number and vice versa.
