FIELD: medicine; medical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves determining skin moisture content. A glass is pressed with its open end against hand palm zones having smooth surface. Signal I1, describing partial pressure of water vapor over dry hand palm skin surface by means of transducer placed inside of the glass. Skin surface is wetted with water. Signal I2, describing water vapor saturation pressure under patient body temperature conditions. Relative humidity ϕ in the glass is determined as quotient received when dividing the first result by the second one. ϕ being equal to 60% and higher, hypothyrosis is to be diagnosed. The ϕ value being below 30%, hyperthyroidism is to be diagnosed. The device has transducer with working leads mounted inside of casing and measuring unit. The casing is designed as drinking glass. The transducer is used for measuring partial pressure of water vapor. The transducer is 25-30 mm far from open portion of the glass. The casing has sealed inlets allowing working leads to be connected to measuring unit. EFFECT: simplified method; reliability of measurements. 2 cl, 3 dwg
