The active silt and-or the stabilized sediments of the preliminary sedimentation tanks is added with 10-25 kg / m cu of a calcium-containing material and the mass is mixed using aeration within 1-4 hours. After that the phases are separated by settling and the heavy metals are extracted from the aqueous phase.
