FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in heavy loaded band-and-shoe brakes, for instance, in drawworks. Proposed multisectional band-and-shoe brake contains brake pulley with fitted on movable and fixed friction linings spring loaded relative to each other. Said linings are mounted on rigid metal members passing through middles of lining thickness. Each fixed "master' lining is permanently secured on said rigid metal members through π/4. Movable friction linings in each sector are intercoupled by springs of different rigidity. Novelty is that shell is interference fitted on outer surface of movable and fixed friction linings. On outer surface of said shell friction linings are fixed being intercoupled by constant rigidity flexible members and enclosed in cylindrical shell with interference, thus composing one of brake sections. Interference of each following shell in direction from brake band to brake pulley increases. EFFECT: increased braking capacity, improved operating parameters of brake, its reliability, increased service life of friction units and provision of uniform wear. 3 dwg
