FIELD: mechanical engineering; heavy loaded band- shoe brakes. SUBSTANCE: novelty is that cooling units of brake are made in form of heat pipes laid through middles of thickness of friction linings widthwise and contacting with heat conducting plates installed lengthwise the linings and arranged square to two friction surfaces. Heat pipes can have constant or variable section in form of circle or rectangle. Novelty in method of cooling is that to provide forced nonuniform cooling of friction pairs, cooling units in form of heat pipes are arranged in π/2 steps over perimeter of brake pulley in linings, said heat pipes having different volumes and being filled with heat carrier with equal latent evaporation heat. Removal of heat from friction pairs to heat pipes is provided by different number of heat conducting plates, namely, area of interaction of their end face surface, less number of plates being installed in friction lining from side of working surface of brake band than number of plate installed from working surface of brake pulley. EFFECT: improved operating parameters of brake by increasing service life of friction pairs owing to reduction of surface temperatures and provision of uniform wear of outer and inner surfaces of friction linings. 4 cl, 6 dwg
