FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in heavy loaded band-and-shoe brakes, for instance, brakes of drawworks. Proposed cooling system of band-and-shoe brake contains brake pulley, brake band with run off and run on sides and friction linings uniformly placed between band sides and containing cooling units made in form of thermopiles consisting of thermocouples with electron and hole conduction. Thermocouples are made in form of rods. Thermal tubes are provided coupled with said units for removing heat from cooling units. Novelty is that system contains additionally flexible elements uniformly arranged between friction linings which are fixed on lings. Thermopiles are arranged in middle part of each friction lining over its length, and thermal tubes are installed in middle part in thickness of friction linings and are in contact with side surfaces of thermocouples with different types of conduction. EFFECT: improved operating parameters of brake, its reliability, increased service life of friction units, provision of uniform wear, simplified design. 7 dwg
