FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in drives of starters of internal combustion engines. Proposed wedging overrunning clutch contains outer and inner clutch members and spring. Novelty is that outer clutch member is stationary secured on drive shaft, and inner clutch member is fitted on splines of driven shaft. Wedging surfaces of clutch members are motion threads. Clutch contains damping device with flange fitted in axial part of outer clutch member, shock absorbing part with plate and three legs which are installed, together with three springs, in holes-guides for axial travel. Tracing device which controls operation of clutch is provided with tracer installed on inner surface of outer clutch member. At free-wheeling, tracer moves along closed part of guides, and at changing into wedging mode, it moves along screw part of guides made at the same pitch as motion thread. Pawl is installed in place of connection of closed and screw parts of guides of inner clutch member and is spring-loaded relative to retainer. EFFECT: increased service life and reliability of clutch at releasing owing to elimination of dynamic loads in process of clutch wedging. 9 dwg
