FIELD: power supplies for space vehicles. SUBSTANCE: proposed power plant has reactor with control elements and safety rods, radiation shield, power section, and radiating cold-air unit; it is also provided with additional radiation shield mounted as close as possible to reactor and provided with through passages for safety rods emerging from reactor and springs actuating its control elements. Contour of this radiation shield depends on angle formed by shadow passing from maximal diameter of front end reflector to diameter of locating area of radiating cold-air unit; contour of main radiation shield is formed by shadow drawn from maximal diameter of additional radiation shield to desired shielded diameter of space vehicle object. Distance between main radiation shield and additional one is chosen depending on location of reactor safety rods emerging from reactor to space formed, their operating mechanism and operating mechanism of reactor control elements. EFFECT: reduced mass and size of power plant due to reduced diametric and axial dimensions of radiation shields. 1 cl, 1 dwg
