FIELD: check-up of nuclear reactor fuel-element columns for uniformity. SUBSTANCE: column of fuel elements made in the form of pipes charged with nuclear fuel pellets may have pellet-to- pellet clearances and fractures on pellet surfaces deteriorating its uniformity. Device designed to check fuel columns for uniformity has relatively perpendicular source of gamma-ray units and detecting units disposed in safety shields with collimating ducts, handling means, and measuring system; each shield provided with collimating duct communicating with gamma-ray units has additional collimating duct; sources of gamma-ray units and fuel elements are disposed in vertical plane so that their geometric axes form vortices of square; handling means is made in the form of drive rollers with two grooves. EFFECT: enhanced check-up capacity due to checking two fuel elements at a time without increasing number of sources. 1 cl, 2 dwg
