FIELD: laser engineering; optical communication systems. SUBSTANCE: proposed device for controlling grounded-cathode semiconductor laser diode designed for modulating optical radiation of the latter by digital or analog signals has triggering and regulating circuit connected to device and using open- collector or open-emitter modulation unit whose output is connected to laser diode. Device is provided with different correcting circuits depending on its design alternate which are set up of active resistors and capacitors whose ratings are chosen in compliance with experimentally found mathematical dependencies; circuit components are arranged and connected depending on type of modulation unit. Device incorporates provision for correcting stray reactances of medium-power laser diode case. EFFECT: enhanced speed of laser diode modulation circuit. 4 cl, 6 dwg
