FIELD: special mechanical engineering in manufacture of ignition means, applicable in manufacture of primer caps of small arms cartridges. SUBSTANCE: the method consists in preliminary cutting out-molding of anvils from metal rolled products without enhanced requirements to geometric precision and mechanical properties of the material and final molding-calibration of the anvils in height in the process of assembly of the primer caps in the press tool just before the insert in the cap charged with the primer composition. The final molding-calibration is accomplished in a transfer die, whose thickness corresponds to the required height of the anvil with an accuracy exceeding the maximum probable accuracy of the metal rolled product, between two punches before the operation of sending on of the anvil in the cap charged with the primer composition as an inherent part of the assembly process. Preliminarily manufactured are anvils with a height of 1 to 1.2 of their final height. EFFECT: reduced expenditures connected with cutting out-molding of the anvils as a preliminary production of anvils with increased tolerances of geometric dimensions, enhanced reliability of the primer caps and safety in manufacture due to exclusion of sending on in the cap of an intolerably high anvil. 3 dwg
