SUBSTANCE: invention elates to synthesis of early unknown quaternary ammonium compounds N,N-dimethyl-N-benzyl-N-[alkoxypoly(ethyleneoxy)carbonylmethyl] ammonium chlorides eliciting bactericidal activity that can be used for control of bacterial damages in medicine, veterinary science and agriculture. Invention describes N, N-dimethyl-N-benzyl-N-[alkoxypoly(ethyleneoxy)carbonylmethyl] - ammonium chlorides of the general formula: [RO(CH₂CH₂O)_nOCCH₂N⁺(CH₃)₂(CH₂C₆H₅)Cl^- wherein: R is C₁₂-C₁₄-alkyl; n is an average oxyethylation degree = 10 that show bactericidal activity. Invention describes also method for preparing indicated compounds that involves interaction of monochloroacetic acid with an alcohol component in the presence of acid catalysts in boiling solvent medium and with azeotropic removing formed water and the following treatment of prepared product with amines at heating. As an alcohol component alkoxypolyethylene glycols of the general formula: RO(CH₂CH₂O)_nH are used wherein R is C₁₂-C₁₄-alkyl; n is an average oxyethylation degree = 10; as a catalyst H⁺- form of cation-exchange resin KU-2 is used; as amine N,N-dimethyl-N-benzylamine is used. New compounds prepared by this method show bactericidal effect in the lower concentrations and less exposition time as compared with its structural analog the preparation F-761.
