FIELD: electrical engineering; laminated stator cores of electrical machines such as turbogenerators. SUBSTANCE: proposed method involves following procedures. Prior to starting the work rotor is brought out and all foreign objects are removed from stator bore and back of iron stacks. Residual compressive pressure is determined by generating ultrasonic vibrations. Ultrasonic vibrations are produced from sensors disposed in cooling ducts between iron stacks in broadband range and are received by sensors disposed on buttend part of iron stack in narrow-band range. Time taken by ultrasonic vibrations to cover fixed distance that depends on position of sensors is measured. Stator core is inspected for condition by residual pressure of iron core compression which is determined as function of rate of ultrasonic vibrations passage through iron stack. EFFECT: facilitated procedure; enhanced reliability of inspection results. 1 cl
