FIELD: ferrous metallurgy; production of rail steel. SUBSTANCE: the invention refers to ferrous metallurgy, in particular to production of high-strength rail steel. The problem of the invention is to increase complex mechanic properties and hardness of railway rails. The steel contains carbon, manganese, silicium, aluminum, vanadium, nitrogen, chromium, nickel, calcium and molybdenum at the following components ratio (in mass %): carbon - 0.71-0.82; manganese 0.9-1.2; silicium 0.3-0.5; aluminum 0.005-0.035; vanadium 0.08-0.12; nitrogen 0.012-0.020; chromium 0.05-0.30; nickel 0.05-0.30; calcium 0.0005-0.005; molybdenous 0.01-0.40. Besides in the steel composition there is a limited amount of admixtures in the following ratio (in mass %): sulfur - no more than 0.020; phosphorus - no more than 0.020; copper - no more than 0.30. EFFECT: the invention allows to increase the steel complex of mechanical properties, hardness and operational durability of the rails. 2 cl, 2 tbl
