FIELD: ferrous metallurgy; production of rail steel. SUBSTANCE: the invention refers to ferrous metallurgy, in particular to production of steel for the railroad rails. The problem of the invention is to increase the railroad rails operational durability. The steel contains carbon, manganese, silicium, vanadium, aluminum, calcium, nitrogen, nickel and molybdenum at the following components ratio (in mass %): carbon - 0.71-0.82; manganese 0.80-1.30; silicium 0.30-0.50; vanadium 0.05-0.12; aluminum 0.005-0.035; calcium 0.0005-0.005; nitrogen 0.007- 0.015; nickel 0.05-0.30; molybdenum 0.01-0.40. Besides in the steel composition there is a limited amount of admixtures in the following ratio (in mass %): sulfur - no more than 0.020; phosphorus - no more than 0.020; copper - no more than 0.30. EFFECT: the invention allows to increase the steel complex of mechanical properties, hardness and operational durability of the rails. 2 cl, 2 tbl
