PROCEDURE ESTABLISHING AUTHENTICITY, DENOMINATION AND DEGREE OF DECREPITUDE OF BANKNOTES AND MACHINE FOR THEIR SORTING AND COUNTING Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: testing and sorting of banknotes to detect authentic, decrepitated and counterfeit banknotes. SUBSTANCE: in correspondence with proposed procedure banknotes are scanned and their complete images in visible, infrared and ultraviolet ranges are generated. Generated images are processed with the aid of statistic methods of analysis and wear, stains, tears, cutout, bent and torn-away edges, holes and so forth. Machine includes unit of piecemeal feed, transportation system, unit of transition and counting, unit establishing authenticity, denomination and degree of decrepitude, unit separating flow of banknotes for banknote packing. Rate of feed can be controlled in unit of piecemeal feed. Computer identifies types of banknotes with allowance for statistic analysis of generated sections of image and their comparison with reference banknotes.
