FIELD: processes and equipment for welding low carbon and low alloy steels. SUBSTANCE: electrode coating composition contains (mass %): ilmenite concentrate, 30 - 40; carbonates of alkali-earth metals, 6 - 12; fieldspar materials, 6 - 10; quartz sand, 9 - 12; ferroalloys on base of manganese and silicon, 14 - 18; mineral and organic plasticizing agents, 6 - 9; iron powder, the balance; dried residue of water soluble silicate, 8 - 11 (above 100%). Composition allows to enhance welding technology properties and sanitary-hygienic factors. EFFECT: enhanced labor condition of welding operators, improved quality and reliability of welded constructions. 4 tbl
