FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: safe production of chloroacetones is achieved using two-step liquid-phase catalytic chlorination of acetone, in the first step of which process is conducted at 20 to 80 C and acetone-to-chlorine molar ratio 1:(2-3) in organohalogen C1-C3-compound containing at least 3 halogen atoms (fluoro-, fluorochloro-, chloro-derivatives of methane, ethane, propane), where content of organohalogen compound in its mixture with acetone is 72-85%.
