FIELD: devices for setting dielectric bodies in rotary or translational motion within electric field. SUBSTANCE: proposed device can be used for demonstrating electrostatic forces as well as for application as low-power electrostatic motor to set dielectric bodies in rotary or translational motion in heterogeneous field due to electrostatic forces and to produce impact on motion speed and direction of mentioned dielectric bodies by means of these forces. Electrostatic motor has shaft-mounted dielectric body of revolution and straight metal electrodes installed relative to body of revolution, their size being not over radius of body of revolution. Each electrode is perpendicular to radius of body of revolution and produces angle α together with tangent to circumference; it is disposed above dielectric in a spaced relation to the latter. As an alternative, each electrode is perpendicular to radius of body of revolution, produces angle α, together with tangent to circumference, and is disposed above dielectric in a spaced relation to the latter; metal shaft of body of revolution functions as additional electrode. As still another alternative, electrostatic motor incorporating dielectric body of displacement is provided with straight metal electrodes installed relative to body of displacement in plane parallel to body of displacement and tilted through angle α to the latter in a spaced relation in direction opposing direction of displacement. EFFECT: enhanced stability of dielectric body rotation or displacement in heterogeneous field due to electrostatic forces. 4 cl, 2 dwg
