FIELD: shipbuilding; technology of obtaining dynamic characteristics of ships at designing stage. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes estimation of dynamic characteristics of ship motion in swell in experimental model basins by means of geometric aids on model which is not dynamically unlike to model of ship with known mass and inertial characteristics. Force pulse Sm of ship model and pulse of force moment Mm are determined by characteristics of model and its kinematic reactions during tests. Pulses thus obtained are converted into force pulse Sf and pulse of force moment Mf by means of geometric similarity according to the following formulae: Sf = m3,5Sm and Mf = m4,5Mm, where m is scale of real ship relative to its model. Then, oscillatory system is under consideration including masses, stiffeners and dampers and all reactions of ship during her motion in swell are determined by calculations of actions of force pulses and pulses of force moment. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of determination of dynamic characteristics due to avoidance of special dynamic similarities of models and their tests. 3 dwg
