FIELD: hydraulic engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to experimental hydromechanics and can be used to determine components of tensors of connected moments of inertia of bodies in the form of hulls of models of vessels, floating facilities and structures. Method consists in the fact that on body in the form of ship hull, which is located in test basin, in center of masses there is a measuring device in the form of three mutually perpendicular electric motors with flywheels. Body fixed in three-axle cardan suspension is, by means of torsion and controlled electric motors with flywheels of revolution, program or semi-program non-uniform rotary movement along one axis or spherical movement along two axes, containing stage of delayed measured program or non-programmed motion and, after a pause, a step of accelerated movement, symmetrical to the first stage, unidirectional taking into account possible body asymmetry. Said symmetrical motion is used to define operation of torsion torque active moment. Electric power consumption is determined by current or estimated torque at symmetrical intervals of motion and body recovery moments. Using the equations of energy conservation considering the coincidence of works of hydrodynamic moments and moments of friction in supports of the device on symmetrical intervals of motion, components of the tensor of the connected moments of inertia of the body are determined for various modes.
