FIELD: fireproofing materials. SUBSTANCE: in order to obtain expandable fireproofing concentrates, polyvinyl alcohol is heated in layered medium to 90- 280 C, said layered medium being possibly 3d-metal chlorides, polyphosphoric acid in presence of sd-metal powders, or polyvanadium acid or its No- or Cr-containing derivatives. When polyvanadium acid or its derivatives are used, reaction mixture, prior to be heated, is exposed to electric field.
