FIELD: metallurgy; rolling process; production of thick plates from low-alloyed heat-resistant steel for manufacture of boilers. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes heating slab to austenization temperature followed by multi-pass rolling first to intermediate and then to final thickness at control of temperature of end of rolling process. Heating of slabs is performed to temperature of 1150-1170 C. Before beginning of rolling process, surfaces of slabs are cooled down to temperature not above 950 C. Besides that, in the course of reducing thickness of work-piece to level exceeding nominal thickness of plate by 18-22 mm, its temperature is reduced to at least 920 C. Multi-pass rolling is performed at total reduction no less than 50% and is completed at temperature of end of rolling which is maintained not below 850 C and not above 900 C. EFFECT: improved mechanical properties of thick plates; avoidance of heat treatment; increased permissible thickness due to low reduction ratio. 4 cl, 2 tbl
