METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING CORSET FOR TREATING THE CASES OF INFANTINE VERTEBRAL COLUMN DISTORTION Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves applying 3-4 min long ill child vertebral column traction treatment on Edelman frame. Plaster negative is formed next to it using gypsum-impregnated bandages in corrected vertebral column position. It is cut and taken off later for being dried during 3-4 h. Several complete cuts are done on the dried negative at the places showing the most marked vertebral column deformities. Additional negative correction is applied by means of pelots both in frontal and sagittal plane most of all matching the physiological vertebral column arrangement. The negative cavity of which is filled with gypsum paste is corrected with bandages to produce adjusted gypsum imprint covered with polyethylene film, fabric sleeve, reinforced carbon plastic, impregnating mixture of corset layers and additional film. The corset is tightened with flexible bandage to produce gypsum, imprint of required form. Corset layer polymerization is carried out in drying cabinet during 4-6 h and then, perforation is made on dry corset on the frontal surface, the surface is coated with leather, fastening members are mounted and final fitting is carried out.
