FIELD: methods of clearing of hydrophobic pollution from water or solid surfaces. SUBSTANCE: the invention presents a method to clear a water or solid surface from a hydrophobic pollution with the help of a magnetic foam, the walls of which contain magnetic particles of nanometer sizes. The foam is produced on the site of its applications in necessary amounts from compact source materials with the help of the stationary or portable installations. The foam, that has absorbed the pollution, is gathered by the magnetic collectors. The gathered foam is then destructed, and a separated magnetic component may be reused. The fast absorption of a hydrophobic pollution, for example petroleum, by the foam ensures an opportunity practically at once to gather and remove the foam from a cleared surface with the help of the magnetic collectors, and the high speed of generation of the foam - to apply the foam repeatedly, that allows to increase efficiency of gathering of a hydrophobic pollution from a water or a solid surface.
